Clearwater Beach in Focus

The Tampa Bay Beaches is a gulfside strip on the west coast of Florida, comprising multiple municipalities which attract visitors every year. We took a closer look at each of these communities to provide some background and explain the activities you can do while visiting our beaches. Now let’s take a closer look at Clearwater Beach.

MEET THE BEACH: Clearwater Beach

Previously known as “Clear Water Harbor” until 1906, this beach is known for -- you guessed it-- the clear water. Clearwater Beach was originally settled by colonists in the 1830’s before becoming known as a resort community in the 1890’s. The white sand beaches now spread for 2.5 miles along the Gulf. Having been named one of the best beaches in the United States numerous times, there are plenty of reasons for people of all ages to enjoy the shopping, restaurants and activities that make up this beautiful beach community.

ACTIVITIES: Here’s what to do

Clearwater somehow is not only known for its beautiful white sand and clear water, it also has lots of fine dining, outdoor activities, and unique places to stay and enjoy the view.

Sunsets are a tradition to behold from anywhere in the Tampa Bay Beaches area, and Clearwater has taken it to the next level. The iconic sunsets at Pier 60 include a festival every night displaying local artists and buskers to enjoy by locals and tourists alike. Even if you’d prefer a more quiet sunset, just walk down to the beach right below the pier and take in the views on your own time.

Clearwater offers you many opportunities to experience the natural beauty of Florida. Only minutes from the beach is Sandkey Park you can explore the 95-acre park and take in the undeveloped beachfront. You can get up close and personal with the infamous dolphins Winter and Hope at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. These Dolphin Tale stars are not alone, you can also learn about the over 400 rescued animals that call this aquarium home.

There is no shortage of water sports and activities in Clearwater. Feeling adventurous? Rent some jet skis, kayak through the beautiful scenery, try paddle boarding, or see the beach from above while parasailing. Feeling a bit more low key? It doesn't matter who you are, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the water here.
