The Tampa Bay Beaches is a gulfside strip of barrier islands on the west coast of Florida, comprised of multiple municipalities which attract visitors every year. We took a closer look at each of these communities to provide some background and explain the safe activities you can do while visiting our beaches. Now let’s take a closer look at Indian Shores, Florida.
MEET THE BEACH: Indian Shores
The Town of Indian Shores boasts 2.5 miles of white sugar sand beaches, breathtaking evening sunsets, and lots of seasonal residents – both the human kind, and also threatened species such as loggerhead turtles and gliding black skimmers. The town hosts a variety of unique shops, restaurants, and accommodations including motels, condos, and time-shares.

TAKE IN NATURE
Indian Shores is sure to bring out the nature lover in you. Residents and visitors throughout the region can experience a trip to the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary. Here you can view native birds found on the Gulf coast including cormorants, brown pelicans and white egrets. Many are there for rescue, rehabilitation, and potential release.
You can take in the beauty of the beaches and witness other native wildlife at the Town Square Nature Park, a half-mile, ADA-accessible boardwalk along the Intracoastal Waterway that features fishing and picnic areas.
DINING WITH A VIEW
There are a variety of one of a kind dining experiences for all who visit Indian Shores. The town is the proud home of Florida Trend magazine’s “Golden Spoon” award-winning Salt Rock Grill along with many other local, independent businesses from coffee shops and retailers to watering holes. Most restaurants are right on the water or only a few steps away from the nearest beach. You are sure to leave this small town with a full belly and a smile.
GET ACTIVE
Whether you are traveling alone or with the family, there is an activity for you in Indian Shores. Spend the day out on the water with a marine rental or launch your own watercraft at the Pinellas County boat ramp. Enjoy a game of tennis or pickleball on the fenced-in court behind the municipal center. There's a playground where children can play and a pavilion that can be reserved for your special occasion. You can also get into an adventurous game of mini golf at Smuggler's Cove.
