Description
25th Annual Treasure Island Sport Kite Competition and Festival
January 15th & 16th 2022 (10am-5pm Daily)
The 25th Annual Treasure Island Sport Kite Competition and Festival returns to Florida in 2022 for your enjoyment! Taking place on Treasure Island Beach, Florida behind the host hotel, the Thunderbird Beach Resort.
Windworks is sponsoring and calling on all flyers to perform on Treasure Island Beach during the Martin Luther King Holiday weekend event. Call Windworks to sign up in advance and participate in the dual-line and multi-line sport kite flying competition. Last minute signups will be taken on the field the days of the event. (be ready to supply the music for your routine). Kite Ballet routines and one on one Hot Tricks Competitions will take place throughout each day for everyone’s entertainment.
Spectators come be amazed by the talented kite flyers performing to music at this two-day event. This event includes kite flying of all types, ground displays, bubbles and tons of fun for all ages. Quad Line and Dual Line lessons will be available on the beach allowing passersby a chance to learn how to fly stunt kites for FREE. After the sun goes down there is potential for a night fly in the same fabulous location! (weather/wind permitting of course).
Windworks, from John’s Pass in Madeira Beach will be on the beach for all your kiting needs including kid’s kites, stunt kites and accessories! Windworks also holds a silent auction and hourly raffles in the kite tent all weekend. Stop by and purchase a ticket for your chance to win.
Remember, Monday is a holiday, so we urge you to plan on staying an extra day for recreational flying. January weather in Florida is usually ideal for kites, with mild temperatures and steady winds. Take full advantage of this opportunity to fly on white sandy beaches while many parts of the country will be covered in white stuff of a different kind!
