The Molloy is the perfect Florida experience. This family-owned resort is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico in beautiful Treasure Island and offers hospitality seldom found anymore. Our suites & cottages come with a full kitchen so you can prepare your own meals if you choose. The atmosphere at the Molloy is very comfortable and family-oriented. Once guests find this treasure on the beach, they come back year after year.

The original Molloy was built in the 1950s by a TB Molloy who moved to Treasure Island from McMinnville, Tennessee. In 1969 the windmill cottages were then torn down and what is now the main building of The Molloy was built. TB Molloy sold the new and improved Molloy Motel and Cottages in the 1970s.

The property again changed hands in 1979 when it was bought by a German couple, Ernst & Birgit Schwegel. The Schwegel’s ran The Molloy for almost 40 years. Ernst was in charge of the general upkeep of the building while Birgit spent most of her time in the office. Throughout their time at The Molloy, they built a large following of guests and friends who returned to the property year after year.

The Molloy is now run by Ernst and Birgit’s grandson, Brandon Makowski. Brandon grew up on the property and it holds a special place in his heart. Brandon worked for his grandparents, learning the business, before finally taking over in 2019. Brandon continues improving the property and hopes to one day pass it along to his children.
